Signature guidelines

By Cat333Pokémon on May 1, 2012

'Why and what?'
Many forums allow users to put large images, both in resolution and data size, in their signatures. I'm not terribly fond of signatures being significantly larger than the contents of the posts to which they are attached, especially when scrolling down long pages.

The following tags are not allowed in signatures:

In addition, your signature may have no more than five lines and 750 characters of text including BB Code (550 excluding BB Code). The maximum font size is 3.

'Uploading an image'
Users are permitted to upload a single image for usage in their signature. The constraints of this image are 100 KB and 600×100 pixels. Animated GIFs are permitted as long as they aren't overly distracting. To upload an image, go to the signature editor and locate the image uploading panel below the box.

'VRAC pets'
The previous method of embedding pets is no longer appropriate here on Victory Road. In lieu of it, we have prepared a mutable BB Code specifically for its use, so if it is necessary to change the structure, we can do so to all on-site embeds. The new image is much smaller and compact, allowing for greater flexibility. Note that this tag only works on Victory Road, so please use the standard BB Code and HTML embed methods as appropriate elsewhere.

'Option 1'

Manually replace the #### with the ID value of pet(s) you want to embed.

'Option 2'
Visit the My Pets page on VRAC while logged in. Tick the boxes to the left of all pets you wish to embed. At the bottom, choose "Embed codes > Get VR" to generate a single line of pets to embed in your signature.

Administrators and moderators will replace signatures with a warning if they are found to be a disruption or in violation to these rules. If something has been removed from your signature by an administrator or moderator, you may not put it back in.

File uploads fixed, Hotmail and AT&T unblocked

By Cat333Pokémon on April 27, 2012

For many of you trying to upload files over 1 MB on Victory Road or the Pokékaki, you may have received messages stating "Entity too large." The upload limit has been raised to the correct limit of 20 MB, which is the maximum permitted for attachments on Victory Road, and these errors have gone away.

In addition, Windows Live Hotmail has lifted their block on Victory Road, so you should now be able to receive forum e-mail again.AT&T is still being a pain, though, so folks with mail provided by AT&T may still not be able to receive messages. With this, new registrants have to verify e-mail addresses before using the forum.

Please let me know if you still are having trouble with these items.

Nintendo Direct Conference Reveals News 3DS Games, New BW2 Trailer

By AuraKshatriya on April 21, 2012

The Nintendo Direct Conference revealed two upcoming Pokémon "games" for the 3DS; the first one being Pokémon AR Searcher. The player searches for Pokémon in the real-world looking through their 3DS screen, and shining a light on their silhouettes to identify them. Pokémon found in this way may be sent to Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, with the announcement noting that very rare Pokémon may be obtained in this manner. It will cost ¥300 on the Nintendo eShop-roughly the equivalent of $4.00, and is to be released in Japan on June 23rd, the same day as Pokémon Black and White 2. PokéBeach has also made note that the silhouette featured in the demonstration (able to be viewed below in the "Gameplay Pictures") does not seem to match any known bird-like Pokémon, supported by a comparison image made by PokéBeach user Gin. This may suggest that either players will have to identify the Pokémon based on a partially inaccurate silhouette (to increase difficulty of gameplay), or that an (or multiple) as-of-yet unknown Pokémon may be featured in Pokémon AR Searcher as well as Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

Spoiler Alert:

The second game announced was an expansion on the original Pokédex 3D, entitled "National Pokédex 3D Pro". It will contain Pokémon from all generations, not just Unova-region Pokémon, as well as Kyurem's two new forms, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. It will also have augmented-reality features, and will come at a cost, ¥1500 (roughly $18.00). This app will go on sale beginning on July 17th of this year.

Spoiler Alert:

Whilst no additional plot details were introduced in the new Black 2 and White 2 trailer, it does feature new scenes of numerous previously-seen aspects, such as:
-Wild Pokémon Battles, showing that the grass in the background of a battle setting is now also animated to blow in the wind.
-Another clip showcasing the game's movie theater aspects with a hero fighting a mechanical Tyranitar.
-Gym Leader Shizui's battle animation (also supporting that all trainers in the game will have animated sprites) and more clips of his Gym's lily pad puzzle.
-The trailer's music also features remixes of the Title Screen Theme and Gym Leader's Last Pokémon theme from the original Black and White, suggesting that the former may be somehow featured in the new games in another way (given that it has been demonstrated from Opening and Title Screen footage that these games have a new theme for the Title Screen). The latter also supports the possibility of all returning themes from the original Black and White being remixed, as have been seen with the Wild Battle and Trainer Battle themes already.

Pokémon Smash Showcases Plethora of New "BW2" Footage

By AuraKshatriya on April 14, 2012

During today's episode of Pokémon Smash, various new footage of Pokémon Black and White 2 was shown, including gameplay (such as a battle against the new Rival), the opening Pokémon Black 2, as well as a test battle between Reshiram and Black Kyurem. One notable detail that the footage revealed is that the rival will have an animates sprite, as do the player characters during link battles, which follows from an ordinary opponent being shown to also have an animated sprite in the previously released trailer. This may suggest that all trainers in the game will indeed have animated sprites. In addition, the animation of the Rival's sprite demonstrates a greatly heightened fluidity to the animations, indicating many more frames may be involved in the animations of these games. Possible Japanese Release Date of Pokémon Black & White 2!

By The Spirit of Time on April 9, 2012

June 23rd, 2012 is a possible release date of the upcoming Pokémon games, Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, in Japan. This is speculated because a Japanese retailer has added this date next to the games in his listings. Since it is quite rare for Japanese retailers to predict release dates, it is anticipated that this date is most probably the actual one, especially that on the same day, Keldeo will be distributed in Japan.

Server Move: April 14 (Cancelled)

By Cat333Pokémon on April 2, 2012

After well over a year on HiVelocity, we have analyzed our system resource usage and felt that we've been paying for a far more powerful machine than we've needed for quite some time. We'll be moving to a new, much more afordable server. Be prepared for some downtime between the 14th and 16th.
