New PokéPark box art revealed

By Cat333Pokémon on October 22, 2009

The official boxart for ????????????????? has been revealed through Nintendo of Japan.

From Bulbapedia:
Quote:In this game, players will be able to take control of Pikachu and travel through a park of different environments, working with other Pokémon to complete various minigames. Eventually, other Pokémon will be befriended, and will help the player on their quest through the park. More friends will be made as the player completes gradually more challenging minigames.

With this game, concepts from past side games are being reintroduced. As in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, the player is a Pokémon rather than a human; going further, as in Hey You, Pikachu! and Pokémon Channel, the player plays as Pikachu. Like Pokémon Snap, photography is also involved.

This will be the third Pokémon-related Wii game to be released to retailers, the first being Pokemon Battle Revolution and the second Super Smash Bros. Brawl, though the latter does not just include Pokémon characters. All other games for the Wii based on Pokémon have been WiiWare games. The game is set to be released on December 5, 2009.

Climbing the 6-Tier Fansite Ladder

By Cat333Pokémon on October 21, 2009

I've created a new article, called Climbing the 6-Tier Fansite Ladder. It explains how to boost your fansite's popularity with a few tips, based on a tier system I've devised. It's a pretty good read for anyone with a site.

FYI, I think my site would be on Tier 3.

Attention All Members

By Cat333Pokémon on October 19, 2009

Well, I see that this place has gathered a nice following, but the rate at which people join seems to be quite slow, maybe no more than a couple people per week.

I'd like to ask the community what could be done to bring more people to the forum. I'd also like to ask if you folks could advertise on other sites a little bit, but please follow this rule:

If you have a Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blog, or anything else of the sort, would you mind making a post about this site, mentioning what it has to offer (Pokémon news, SoulSilver info...)?

Twitter Feed Added

By Cat333Pokémon on October 19, 2009

The main site now shows a Twitter feed in the right-hand column. I guess I'll use my Twitter account to post random little tid-bits.

Affiliate: Onogori-PMD

By Cat333Pokémon on October 18, 2009

The new affiliate this time is Onogori-PMD. It's pretty basic right now and only has a little bit of content, but it looks like it's got a lot of potential. It's got lots of freebies, though; who can argue with that? :P

IMPORTANT: Should I join the PokéZam Community Forum?

By Cat333Pokémon on October 14, 2009

This is a very important poll. I really want to know what everyone thinks.

The question is asking whether or not I should join the PokéZam community forum. I have an open invitation from an assistant admin, Nightwing, requesting for me to join. I can also run a test, but I'll explain that in a moment.

Now what exactly is a community forum? It's where several websites share the same forum, expounding on the word "community". Of course, that means that every site admitted will have to "transfer" their members to the new site through messages and announcements.

On the positive site, it should increase traffic to Floatzel.Net, as well as the other less-popular sites in the community. As sites like Pokémon Legends and The Pika Club (with a very popular forum) may be joining, that would simply be more sites that I could connect with. All member sites will get their own section on the community forum, and all forum members will be able to discuss in them.

Now for the cons. Currently, no one other than PokéZam is in the community. It would also mean me saying さようなら sayonara to 90% of the forum. (The only parts that would be left are the news, updates, and announcements.) It would also mean Floatzel.Net would no longer have a forum to call its own. (Now, of course, if it doesn't go well, I can re-instantiate the forum, but the site could get hit with a major loss of active members moving to another forum.)

Had I not had a forum, or instead had a smaller forum with only a few hundred posts, I would have jumped on this offer in a heartbeat. But now, the site is currently on an escalation, so I'm not sure if I should do this.

As for the "test" option, what that means is to test join the site. My forum would not be purged nor would I send a mass PM that the forum is moving, but I'd still change stuff around as if I did join.

I really want an opinion on this, so please vote and reply instead of just navigating away.
